Bio
The Music of Myron Schulz
I love to write songs. I write a lot of pop-rock with an indie/alternative edge, but I listen to boogie-woogie, The Flaming Lips, Frank Sinatra, Stereolab, Henry Mancini, Johnny Cash, Guided By Voices, and Beck (to name a few) with equal enthusiasm, and I don’t know if those influences could ever NOT surface in my writing. I love a writing challenge, & have managed to compile an eclectic body of work that includes metal, Latin, hip-hop, country, jazz, & blues.
Influenced a great deal by the Beatles, I’ve always loved the way each album is full of sonic surprises – a musical roller coaster ride where anything can happen, & I’ve taken the approach of the Wearer-of-Many-Hats since I began writing. I’ve been singing since I was a toddler & I've been a musician since I picked up the guitar at the age of nine. After taking the necessary guitar lessons & playing for a few years, learning others’ songs, I tried my hand at songwriting at the age of 13 & have never wanted to do anything else since.
After the demise of my high school band Little White Honda I teamed up with some guys from my hometown of Steinbach, MB, Canada to form a group called the Pets. The Pets’ debut (& only) full-length release Love & War was put out by endearing records in early 2000 & went on to win international acclaim, garnering 4-&-5-star reviews from The Boston Herald, The Sunday Times of London, & several Japanese music mags. The Pets underwent a split just as we were gaining momentum & reformed in 2001 with a new lineup as The Waking Eyes. Our debut full-length, Combing The Clouds, also garnered favorable media attention when released by endearing in 2002. I left the group shortly afterwards and formed a group called The Most, which played out in Winnipeg for a brief period.
Currently, I am pursuing a music career with less emphasis on live performance & more on songwriting, recording, & pitching to film/TV/licensing opportunities, hence the TAXI membership!
